"Hick or Heap" 2010

It was a great Halloween here at the Johnston's and there are lot's of pictures. It started out a bit rough, with Gavin sick all morning, so we stayed home from church. He slept a lot and felt just fine around 2! Kyle spent all day carving pumpkins and the rest of us just relaxed. We got the kids all dress up and headed out around 5. First stop pictures in front of the house- getting a picture of all 4 is near to impossible these days, but at least they are all in the picture!

Gavin in full on character!

Avalyn ready to Trick or Treat!

Gotta love the posing! Such a pretty Minnie Mouse!

Ainsley in her Minnie Mouse costume- a friend gave this to me when she moved and it fit her perfectly! I had planned on her wearing a Tinkerbell costume (that Cambria wore her first Halloween), but I didn't realize it was a 6-12 month and she is way to tall. I was thrilled she kept the ears on most of the night!

Cambria as Tinkerbell! I was just happy she put it on, along with the wings, and didn't complain! I really wanted to buy her a costume that represented something she loves right now (like Daisy Duck or Minnie Mouse), but since I knew she would wear a head piece I decided to save the $ and use Avalyn's old Tinkerbell. She look adorable and even let me put a little pony tail in her hair, now if only she'd stay still for a picture;)

Trick or Treating at our good friends and neighbors the Willis family. We love them so much and the kids couldn't wait to trick or treat at their house! After visiting a few homes in our neighborhood we headed to our friends who live in a finished neighborhood. We have done Halloween there for several years and the kids couldn't imagine not doing it with the Gutz family!

Avalyn was thrilled to have her Minnie "Me"! She was so excited that Ainsley was going to match her- pretty cute! Ainsley actually looks almost identical to Avalyn at her age, it's hard to tell who's who in pictures.

Gavin and his best friend Elijah! Gavin's old Buzz costume fit Elijah perfectly! He will miss trick-or-treating with Elijah.

The babies ready to trick or treat. Last year Ainsley was just a few months old and baby Mathias was just a few weeks old, so Jen and I stayed in with the babies. This year we decided to all go and it was a wonderful time! The babies did great!
Trick-or-Treat!
After a few homes Ainsley was wanting out of the stroller so I decided to let her trick-or-treat. She LOVED it! She walked up to every house!

Once she was at the door she would just stand there and stare at whoever was passing out the candy- she loves people. I think she thought we were dropping her off- she usually didn't want to leave. She would take the candy, but didn't want it in her bucket.

Ben (2) and Ainsley, both loved going door to door!
Ainsley's had so much fun on her first time trick-or-treating!

Ainsley and Mathias, he wasn't so sure about her hanging out in the wagon.

After happily sitting in the stroller, swinging her feet and playing with her little ducky, I decided we needed to let Cambria try Trick or Treating. The kids and I taught her to say trick or treat over the last week, of course she says "hick or heap" (not always using the "ck" or "p"). For some reason she thinks "treat" is your cheek and pushes her finger on your cheek and say "he he..hick or heep"- every time she hears the phrase.

We let her go up to the door and went about as I expected. She could care less about candy (still not eating anything), she just wanted to go inside. Oh well, maybe next year. She happily went back in the stroller and we let her run around a bit when we were done.

A true little fairy!

The guys took the big kids out for a bit more trick-or-treating, while Jen and I put the pumpkin shaped pizza in the oven and fed all the babies. It was a great night- So much fun, so much candy!

Kyle's pumpkins! They turned out great!
Yes, he uses a stencil- otherwise they would all look something like the pumpkin on the left;)
